New Research into Anti-aging Chocolate

anti-ageing chocolate

Calling all chocoholics, your time has come! All of those hard years of preparation to get your taste buds tingling for the touch of that dark brown pleasure may be finally about to pay off.

Believe it or not, scientists have been working hard to develop guilt-free chocolates that can actually limit the development of new wrinkles as well as reducing the effects of sagging skin on the consumer!

Introducing Esthechoc: The Anti-ageing Chocolate

Although there are several alternative anti-ageing treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers, the added bonus of chocolate in this latest innovation has certainly turned heads. The name gifted to this wonder-chocolate is ‘Esthechoc‘ and has been created by a group of scientists at a Cambridge University laboratory. One of the inventors, Dr Ivan Petyaev, has described the treat as a ‘fountain of youth’. He also stated,

“We used people in their 50s and 60s and in terms of skin biomarkers we found it had brought skin back to the levels of a 20 or 30 year old. So we’ve improved the skin’s physiology.”

An article by The Telegraph states that the Esthechoc chocolate is able to boost antioxidant levels in your system as well as increasing circulation. The benefits of this is that you can prevent wrinkles and keep your skin appearing extremely youthful and smooth.

The chocolate was tested vigorously and some extraordinary comparisons were made. It was found that in just a 7.5 grams bar of Esthechoc there was the same amount of the antioxidant, astaxanthin, as is found in an entire fillet of fresh Alaskan salmon. This is incredibly beneficial to the body and to the skin. On top of this there is the same amount of cocoa polyphenols in this small bar of Esthechoc as is found in 100 grams of dark chocolate according to reports.

On top of the many age defying benefits already discussed, the super chocolate could also transform the skin of a consumer in their 50s to that of someone in their 20s or 30s.

How Long Do You Need to Eat the Chocolate For?

The chocolate has not been touted as an instant miracle cure in that taking one bite sucks up your wrinkly chasms like a Benjamin Button in fast forward. The clinical tests saw patients eat one bar of the chocolate each day for 4 weeks and the key results of the tasty trial were that the volunteers supposedly has less evidence of inflammation in their blood as well as increased circulation and supply of blood to the skin tissue.

When questioned about the clinical trials, co-inventor, Dr. Ivan Petyaev commented,

In clincial trials we saw that inflammation in the skin started to go down and the tissues began to benefit.

He later added,

People using it claimed that their skin was better and we can see that the product is working to slow down ageing.

Can Chocolate Really Be Healthy Though?

At just 38 kcal per bar, Esthechoc is perfectly safe for diabetics and can be eaten as part of a healthy diet. It is important to note that all of the claims thus far have been generated by the creators at the Cambridge based lab. In reality, many health experts have advised the public to approach the product with caution stating,

“There may be biological reasons to think some of the compounds may benefit some processes linked to ageing and disease, but on the other hand, eating too much chocolate means more calories, which means obesity so the net effect is never clear cut.”

Naveed Sattar, professor of metabolic medicine at Glasgow University also added,

“These food claims need to be backed up with trials to have any genuine credibility. Such trials are glaring by their absence so all such health claims are unfounded,”

When Can You Get Your Hands on Esthechoc?

The wonder chocolate should start popping up in various London stores in the coming months although can be order online today. The product is priced at £42.50 for a 21 day supply. That is a little over £2 per chocolate bar. If the anti-ageing super food does what it claims to do then it’s surely a small price to pay for nearly halving the aesthetic age of your skin.

What’s Our Take on the Anti-ageing Chocolate?

Although this product is very exciting we side with the health experts in that you should proceed with caution and take the anti-ageing claims with a strong pinch of salt. Why? We often see products come into the market that promise the world and end up being more gimmicky than beneficial. It does almost sound too good to be true and therefore it would be great to see some truly unbiased tests and results before forking out for supplies of the chocolate.

It is always best to check out what others say about a product before going for it yourself and so we are super excited to see if the chocolate holds true to the claims made by Ivan and his colleagues.
