Vampire Facelift: What Is It?

what is the vampire facelift
Whether it be Twilight or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it is hard to deny the fascination of vampires within our popular culture. So it comes as no surprise that our bloody love affair has made a splash in the skin-care industry – and quite a big one too.

Vampire Facelifts Are Not So Gruesome After All

Sure, it sounds like a messy procedure but don’t let the name bite into your interest. The treatment is a non-surgical method to rejuvenate the skin. In simple, some of your own blood is turned into platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) which is then administered back into the facial tissue leading to a rejuvenation of its appearance.
If you are unfamiliar with Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP), let me fill you in. Your blood is made up of predominantly of; plasma, platelets, red blood cell and white blood cells. PRP is a sample of your blood in which the concentration of platelets has been increased above the baseline.

What’s So Important About Platelets?

Platelets are special because they hold deposits of growth factors that are integral to the stimulation of collagen synthesis, cell growth, skin regeneration and the renewal of tissue.

So, How Does the Vampire Lift Work?

During the Vampire Lift procedure, a small amount of blood is taken from the patient. The amount will range from two to ten teaspoons but the amount will be dependent on the areas that are being treated. This blood is then spun an a centrifuge. The purpose of this is to separate the components of the blood. The platelets and plasma will separate from the rest of the make up of the blood sample meaning that it can be drawn off by itself. Now that we have the PRP, it is injected into the specific areas of the body that require the treatment. Those rejuvenating properties of the platelets will help to make your skin repair itself to a more youthful appearance.

What are the Benefits of Getting a Vampire Facelift?

A completely natural treatment: The treatment is completely natural since no foreign materials are being injected into the skin, it’s all your own blood. This means that there is reduced risk of an allergic reaction that other treatments could bring.

There is no bruising: The blood mixture is a very thin, watery fluid and so no bruising occurs which can happen with other treatment options.

More affordable: than getting a facelift surgery. As well as the advantage of it being non-surgical, the Vampire facelift is also much less expensive than a regular surgical facelift.

Expected results include: improved skin tone, clarity, and volume.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Vampire Facelift?

This treatment is not perfect for all types of wrinkles. There is generally not enough product to inject the entire face. The best use is to help volumize thinner areas that have more delicate lines in the skin. The Vampire Facelift also works very well for those who have been affected by natural ageing.

A Patient’s Perspective

We caught up with Irene, a patient who has recently seen the huge benefits from the Vampire facelift treatment. She was kind enough to answer a few questions, and here they are!

1. Where did you hear about the Vampire Facelift?

I saw it mentioned in the media a lot of the past few years. I think it was Kim Kardashian that I saw had it done and the results seemed to look good. I’ve always been curious about cosmetic treatments but am too scared to go for anything surgical. When I started to read about this Vampire Facelift, I felt that it was a nice way for me to bring back my youth without needing proper invasive surgery.

2. Was the procedure painful at all?

Not really. Well I did feel some discomfort but it wasn’t anything to be worried about. I guess you are going to feel some discomfort when you are having needles put into your face, right! I think the apprehension was more painful than the treatment itself to be honest. It was all new to me and new things are scary. I would say to try not to worry that there will be pain because the Vampire Facelift sounds much scarier than it really is! The needle they use is very fine which means that you don’t really get any bruising afterwards either which is a great bonus as many other treatments can take a few days to heal fully.

3. How would you describe the results of the treatment?

I am really happy with the results of the Vampire Facelift. I’m not just saying that to vindicate the price tag of £500. I really have seen a distinct improvement in my appearance and have had many compliments after seeing people for the first time post-treatment. I would say that my skin just looks much younger and fresher in a number of ways. You know when you get older and you lose that crispness and that kind of soft touch to the skin. Well I have got that back now and I am really happy. This treatment is supposed to last for over a year. I will definitely come back for a second round at that time!

4. What would you say to others contemplating the Vampire Facelift?

I would tell them to go for it. It will feel scary because it is something new. People may even tell you not to get it done because they don’t really understand the benefits. I would suggest that you read around and see what others are saying after having the treatment. I would then perhaps book a consultation with your local clinician just to see what they have to say. Then you can make a fully informed decision. It won’t be the right treatment for everyone but I would certainly implore you to think about the Vampire Facelift as it is a revolutionary treatment that truly can roll back the years.
